Your Life Is an Adventure Story Where You Know the Author and the Ending.

(summary of the sermon from 12/31/2023)

New Year's Eve is a time when we think about the past and the future. We reflect on what happened and what's to come. The Bible has some good stuff to say about time.

In one part, a man named Simeon was told by God that he'd see the Messiah before he died. When baby Jesus came to the temple, Simeon said, "Now I can go in peace. God kept his promise."

The Bible is full of promises God made and kept. He promised a Savior who would beat Satan, a helper who would save people, and a king who would rule forever. All of these promises came true in Jesus. God promised to send a Messiah, and He did.

Now, God promises something to us. In Revelation, God says, "I'll live with people. No more tears, pain, or death. I'm making everything new." This is the last chapter of our story.

Imagine your life as an awesome story or movie. Two things are sure: you know the author (God through Jesus) and the ending (no more pain, tears, or death). Your life is like an adventure story. There'll be ups and downs, but you know the author and the end so you can be at peace in your journey as each chapter unfolds.

I hope this perspective helps to make 2024 a great year for you.

Wishing you peace in 2024!
Pastor John
